Since June 2015, Esmée and I have raised over £3400 for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan in taking part in Race For Life events and Macmillan Coffee Mornings. Knowing that, in my husband’s name, we can potentially help others is a heartwarming feeling.
This year, I am so excited to be teaming up with The Steve Bernard Foundation to hold a Grand Charity Football Match & Family Fun Day in memory of my incredible husband Steve “Shaggy” Shergold, and his friend and ex-teammate, Steve Bernard, who died in a car accident at just 18 years old back in 2005.
The event will take place at Hurn Bridge Sports Club, Christchurch, from 10.30am on Sunday 7th May 2017. Admission is free and we will have plenty of entertainment for children, as well as a prize draw raffle, Penalty King Competition, bouncy castle, burger bar and use of the inside bar.
All funds raised will be split down the middle between The Steve Bernard Foundation and Bowel Cancer UK.
This will be the first time I’ve planned and hosted an event from scratch as opposed to signing up for an organised event. I can’t wait to spend the day celebrating the lives of two lovely men just as they’d want to be celebrated – with football, fun, food and most importantly, surrounded by family and friends with smiles on our faces.
If you are able to come along to support, please do! We’d love to see you.
If you can’t be there on the day, or if you can, but would like to donate in advance anyway, please click here! Thank you.
